CSUSB’s Coyote Radio Receives National Acclaim
Cal State San Bernardino’s Coyote Radio students snagged top honors at the National Golden Mic Awards in New York City for the program, “My Awesome Empire” syndicated radio show.
The Intercollegiate Broadcast System announced the winners of the National Golden Mic Awards for excellence in broadcasting at its 2014 convention on March 8. Coyote Radio and students Vincent Ledesma, Mindi McNeil and Janet Moses, who are all now graduates, won top honors in the “Best Public Affairs Program” category.
In addition, Coyote Radio station also won the “Peer-to-Peer Platinum Award” for professional, efficient and effective service as a campus broadcast outlet.
In January, the student-produced “My Awesome Empire” show was also named a finalist with two nominations at the Hollywood “Taste Awards,” where it competed against segments from popular national television programs including “What Not To Wear.” No other college campus-produced program had ever been a nominated finalist in a major Hollywood entertainment award.
The IBS is the nation’s largest and oldest non-profit educational association. The Golden Mic Awards honor college stations and broadcasters for exceptional professionalism.
