University of La Verne to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at 8th Annual MLK Day of Service, Jan. 21
The University of La Verne will honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at its 8th Annual MLK Day of Service. Students, faculty, staff, and community members are invited to participate.
Teams of volunteers will lend their time and services to local organizations including Cory’s Kitchen Food Pantry, Peace & Carrots Community Garden, Hillcrest Retirement Community, Unity Church of Pomona, and UrbanMission Community Partners. Volunteers will assist with planting, painting, cleaning and prepping facilities, and organizing food pantries.
When: Monday, Jan. 21, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
- Opening ceremony begins at 9 a.m. (Keynote speakers, West African Drummers)
- Volunteer service from 10 a.m.-noon
- Lunch from 12:15-1 p.m. (Soul food & cake provided)
- Closing ceremony from 12:15-2 p.m. (Quilt reflection activity)
