Fontana’s All-Access Summer
Fontana, California – The Mayor and City Council invite the public to participate in “Fontana’s All-Access Summer” events running weekly from June 9 to July 29 at various locations throughout the City. Summer events include Movie Mondays, Family Fun Nights, Sunset Concerts, Dive-in Movies, Aquatic programs, the Red, White & Cruise Fourth of July Celebration as well as various Fontana Arts events. Summer is an exciting time in the City of Fontana as staff plan and facilitate a wide range of fun, family friendly activities for residents to experience and enjoy.
Fontana’s pools are open from May 28 to September 5 for recreational swim at the Don Day, Heritage and Miller pools. Recreational swim at the Fontana Park Aquatic Center is available year round. Swim lesson registration for Fontana residents is currently ongoing. Residents are encouraged to sign up early as sessions will fill up fast.
Sunset Concerts begin June 9 and occur every Thursday from 7:00-9:00pm at Veterans Park, 17255 Merrill Ave., through July 28. Attendees are encouraged to bring their favorite blanket or lawn chair, pick a spot to settle down on the cool green grass or get up and dance. The summer series kicks off with Latin group Son Mayor.
Movie Mondays are coming soon to a park near you! Staring June 13 at 6pm, we setup an outdoor movie theatre for all to enjoy. Every week is a different park and a different movie. Bring the family and don’t forget the popcorn! The first movie will be “The Little Rascals” at Seville Park, 16601 Seville Avenue.
On Wednesday evenings this summer, starting June 15 is Family Fun Nights with themed activities and entertainment celebrating different styles of music. The fun starts at 5pm. We’ll bring the music and you bring your best dance moves! The first theme will be Oldies on June 15 at Veterans Park, 17255 Merrill Avenue.
Dive-in and relax on Fridays this summer for a movie at the pool! Beginning Friday, June 17 at Heritage Pool, 7350 W. Liberty Pkwy., participants can swim and watch a family friendly movie all in one! Events begin at 6:00 pm. Regular swim fees apply.
Celebrate artistic diversity with art & performance on Saturday June 18 from 11:00am-3:00pm at Art in the Park taking place at Southridge Park, 14501 Live Oak Avenue. There will be artist demonstrations, art vendors, food, live Taiko drum performance, European cultural dance performance and music by Iliana Rose.
Check out Sounds from the Islands on Saturday, June 25 from 6:30-8:30pm at the Fontana Park Aquatic Center, 15610 Summit Avenue. There will be a free concert with music by Upstream, art demonstrations, swimming & slide use, interactive art, games and food. Regular pool fees apply.
Once again the City has partnered with the Auto Club Speedway for the Red, White and Cruise Fourth of July Celebration. The event features a parade, live entertainment, a children’s zone and other activities along with a spectacular fireworks show. Gates open at 2:00pm and Fireworks begin at 9:00pm. Tickets go on sale June 6 at the Don Day Center, Jessie Turner Center and Community Services office. $7.00 presale tickets are available for Fontana residents. Returning for a third year is the Fontana Arts Festival at Southridge Park, 14501 Live Oak Avenue, on Saturday July 30 from 2:00-7:00 pm. Event attendees will be treated to live musical performances, art projects, artist demonstrations, dance exhibits, art workshops and food and beverages. This family friendly event will highlight the performing and visual arts with unique performance showcases and inspiring hands-on activities for children and adults.
