Redlands Airport Apron Rehabilitation Project scheduled
Work will begin next week on a nearly $300,000 construction project at the Redlands Municipal Airport to repair pavement, widen taxiways and install storm drain pipeline.
The Redlands Airport Apron Rehabilitation Project is expected to begin June 20 and be completed by the third week of July. Improvements will include pavement repair with crack and slurry seal at the westerly three rows of hangars. Additionally, the project will widen the aircraft taxiway area located near the west end of the airport. Finally, the project will install approximately 500 feet of 24-inch and 30-inch storm drain pipeline.
The work is not expected to affect airport traffic. Access to the three westerly rows of hangars will be restricted for approximately one day during the crack and slurry seal pavement repair. Tenants will be notified before the work begins and alternate storage areas will be provided. No other services will be affected.
The contractor for the $298,984 project is WEKA, Inc. of Redlands. All project costs will be funded by Airport Pavement Rehabilitation grant funding. No General Fund dollars will be used to construct this project. Construction of the Redlands Airport Apron Rehabilitation Project will be managed by the City of Redlands Municipal Utilities and Engineering Department.
The City will make a concerted effort to minimize disruptions for residents and businesses located in or near the Redlands Municipal Airport, as well as airport patrons. A majority of the construction work will occur Monday through Friday between 7a.m. and 5 p.m., with some Saturday work from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The City will provide advance notices if Saturday work is planned.
