Take a Walk on the Healthy Side
Steps Along the Way Walking Clubs in Fontana
Fontana, California – The Mayor and City Council invite the public to join a free “Steps Along the Way” walking club.
The Steps Along the Way walking club is part of Healthy Fontana and promotes the health benefits of walking while motivating first-time walkers to increase their steps on a weekly basis. Join and receive a free starter kit that includes a membership card, Healthy Fontana t-shirt, pedometer, walking journal to track your progress and a warm-up and cool-down handout.
According to Dede Benson, coordinator of Healthy Fontana, some of the benefits of the club for locals “are physical activity, it’s free, it’s fun, they will get to meet their neighbors and they get health benefits out of it.” She said “We’ve had people who have come because their doctors have told them, ‘you need to go do something physical, you need to be physically active,’ the club will help them do that.”
Clubs are on the Monday through Thursday. Evening sessions are at the following locations: Southridge Park from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. located at 14501 Live Oak Ave. Miller Park from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. located at 17004 Arrow Blvd. The Heritage Center 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. located at 7350 W.
