The Riverside County Young Republicans recently gathered to endorse in the upcoming June 5th Primary. The membership views endorsements made in this election of particular importance in light of the result of Proposition 14’s effect on our election process. Proposition 14 established an open primary throughout the state of California for all State and most Federal Candidates making partisan endorsements incredibly important in effort to aid in determining truly conservative and responsible Republican leadership.
Incumbents and unchallenged Republican candidates were endorsed unanimously by consent as noted below. In addition, several seeking the organization’s endorsement emerged victorious after receiving the required majority threshold of members present for endorsement.
“I’m proud of the membership’s choice for the 2012 primary”, stated Club President Nathan Miller, “This election cycle has produced several Public Employee Union friendly, registered Republican candidates which we find to be a significant threat to California’s prosperity and economic recovery.”
Public Employee Unions like SEIU and the CTA, the largest special interests in Sacramento, have had unchecked political power and are now seeking to usher in an era of a 2/3 majority of Union friendly elected officials in both legislative houses. Their hegemony in Sacramento has directly encouraged deficit spending, increased private sector unemployment and has undermined the financial futures of the teachers and public employees they claim to protect. The only check that exists to their power by design is the democratic will of Californians and our ability to elect responsible public servants.
