Tools for Teachers on MFG Day
Tools for Teachers on MFG Day – October 5th, 2018
Colton, CA – Manufacturing is changing and the need for workers is growing. With advanced manufacturing offering careers related to computerized plants, robotics, and 3-D printing, teachers and parents may need materials and information to present an up-to-date view of what a career in manufacturing is like.
Friday, October 5 is National Manufacturing Day. It’s a day when manufacturers, colleges, and training centers, across the nation, open their doors for students to learn about manufacturing careers. Visiting factories make a great field trip, but if you are unable to visit one of those locations, the Manufacturers’ Council of the Inland Empire suggests that there are materials available online that will help you learn more about manufacturing.
At the official MFGDay.com website, there is a Teachers’ Guide with a 44-page PDF Toolkit to help teachers, parents and students explore different careers.
Visit https://www.mfgday.com/resources/teacher-guide to find out more. The toolkit includes a number of activities for students to increase their knowledge about the industry. It’s recommended for grades 6-12.
Manufacturing careers include design, engineering, and even the business side of the industry. There are opportunities for all interests. Manufacturing also offers high pay and opportunity for career advancement. Teaching students, including young grade school level children, that they can have jobs where they make things with their hands, gives many kids hope about the future.
