Karla Rhay Wins Statewide Recognition As Classified Leader Of Year
San Bernardino, CA – Karla Rhay, chief executive officer of California Schools Risk Management Joint Powers Authority (JPA) and California Schools Employee Benefits Association JPA, has been selected for statewide recognition by the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA).
Rhay was nominated for the statewide award by San Bernardino County Superintendent Ted Alejandre. In March, Rhay was named as the Region 12 Classified Administrator of the Year, which made her eligible for consideration for the statewide honor.
The other Region 12 statewide administrators of the year who also were announced by ACSA are:
- Dana Carter, principal of Yucaipa Adult School in the Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District, as Adult Education Administrator of the Year;
- Andress Luna II, principal of Milor High School in Rialto Unified, as Continuation/Educational Options Administrator of the Year;
- Alana Hughes-Hunter, executive director of Special Education Local Plan Area in Ontario-Montclair, as Special Education Administrator of the Year.
Rhay is one of four administrators from Region 12, which represents San Bernardino County, who were selected as statewide administrators of the year by ACSA. Rhay was selected in the category of Classified Leader of the Year.
She and the other administrators of the year will be honored at a statewide awards banquet in November in San Francisco.
Rhay, who has a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California, has served as the chief executive officer of both the California Schools Risk Management JPA and California Schools Employee Benefits Association JPA since 2005.
