Learn about Map Caching Enhancements in ArcGIS Server 10

Esri will host the live training seminar Building and Updating Map Caches with ArcGIS Server 10 this week. Using caching enhancements in ArcGIS Server 10, you can now build, manage, and use map service caches in new and innovative ways.
You will learn how to access a cache as a raster dataset in ArcMap and how to import cached imagery from other map services to create a single collaborative cache. You will see how the new compact cache format reduces both the time it takes to copy caches and the amount of disk space needed. You will also learn how to use the new mixed-mode image format. This format uses both PNG and JPEG files housed in a single cache, letting you take advantage of both the transparency of PNGs and the smaller file size of JPEGs.
The presenter will also introduce new cache import/export tools that let you merge cached images from multiple sources into a single cache. This is the same technology being used for the Esri Community Maps Program.
This live training seminar will be useful for cartographers and geographic information system (GIS) analysts who need to author maps that will be published on the Web. ArcGIS Server administrators who manage and update existing map caches to optimize GIS services are encouraged to attend as well. Experience with or a general knowledge of map caching using ArcGIS Server will be beneficial.
