Mammoths and Mastodons Meet Art
Learn about ancient elephants from a paleontologist, and learn how to drawn them from a cartoonist in a TalkShop, “Art Meets Science: mammoths and mastodons,” at the San Bernardino County Museum on Friday, October 29 from 3 to 6pm. Reservation is required by October 27.
Curator of Paleontology Eric Scott will discuss mammoths and mastodons: their evolution, their relationships with each other and with living elephants, their biology, their extinction, and their historic significance in North America paleontology. He will talk about local discoveries of remains of these prehistoric animals.
Darlene Douthit will then lead a Cartoon Workshop with verbal and visual instructions along with special drawing guides showing basic shapes to help students increase their artistic skills. Darlene teaches at the Redlands Art Association and the Riverside Art Museum.
