Description: One of the most performed American plays of the twentieth century, Wilder’s main idea in Our Town is to appreciate life while you are living it. Wilder shows the beauty and reverence of the human experience through everyday events of the people in the fictional town ofGrover’s Corners,New Hampshire, at the turn of the previous century. Narrated by the main character, the “Stage Manager,” the story revolves around Emily Webb, who grows up in the small town, falls in love with and marries George Gibbs, dies giving birth, but is given the chance to come back to revisit her earthly life on the occasion of her twelfth birthday.
