Assemblymember Ramos Announces $9.3 Million Homeless Aid Grant
Highland, CA – Assemblymember James C. Ramos (D-Highland) is pleased to announce that the San Bernardino City & County Continuum of Care has received a $9.3 million Homeless Emergency Aid Program (HEAP) grant from the Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency Homeless Coordinating and Financing Council.
The San Bernardino City & County Continuum of Care, also known as the San Bernardino County Homeless Partnership, will use the funds to assist individuals or families in the region who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness. The Homeless Partnership has adopted a “Housing First” model of care that aims to provide permanent housing quickly, with supportive services as needed. This has been shown to decrease the amount of time people experience homelessness, increase the effectiveness of supportive services, lowers the cost of services as a whole, and reduces future episodes of homelessness.
“I’m thankful that the State of California has recognized the work we are putting in to eliminate homelessness in San Bernardino and providing the resources to help us reach this goal,” said Assemblymember Ramos. “This grant will go a long way to keep young people, families, and veterans off the streets to get the help they need.”
