CVMG Team Delivers Meals,  Helps Families Settle into Homes

Rancho Cucamonga, CA – Cucamonga Valley Medical Group (CVMG) emphasizes that its patients are “Treated Like Family.” The CVMG team also applies the terminology beyond the walls of its six locations throughout the Inland Empire.

“Treated Like Family” applies to communities and people in need throughout the region served by CVMG.

Cucamonga Valley Medical Group’s involvement in Project Impact in partnership with Impact SoCal is one example of community involvement that has made a significant difference in the lives of families in need.

CVMG participated in Project Impact for a third straight year in 2018 and helped a family of five, including three young children, transition into a new home provided through the charity organization Mercy House.

“They put people into homes. We usually pitch in around Thanksgiving,” said CVMG Physician and CEO, Dr. Rahmi Mowjood.  “Our staff donated household items. CVMG supplied the furniture, bedding, and appliances.”

Mowjood said the CVMG team embraces the opportunity to help others, especially a family in need.

Marissa Donald, CVMG Practice Manager, helps to coordinate volunteer efforts. “This year we put our efforts into helping a family of five, three young boys ages 2, 5 and 8,” she said. “They were living in a motel for a while. Now they’re in a two-story, four-bedroom condo in Ontario.”

Donald said the CVMG team “dropped off all the large furniture.” The volunteers made the beds and set up the kitchen for the family.

“One of the boys had his birthday the day before, so we got a cake and candles,” Donald said. “We’re still getting them a washing machine and drier and a refrigerator. Two of our providers purchased the toys. One of the boys liked Hot Wheels and they bought them things like that. We have another staff member who wants to donate the artificial tree for the holidays.”

The spirit of giving is prevalent throughout Cucamonga Valley Medical Group year-round, but especially so during Thanksgiving and the year-end holiday season.

CVMG’s Upland office helped provide Thanksgiving meals to the homeless and low-income families through the nearby Foothill Family Shelter.

“On Thanksgiving morning our staff helps with the setup and serving the meals,” Mowjood said. “CVMG staff also delivers meals to patients in need. Treated Like Family. We have family members who were in need or not in ideal situations. We want to make sure to provide them with a meal and make sure they are not alone on Thanksgiving. We want our patients to know they are like family.”

“At the beginning of November, the staff traditionally asks how they can participate because they like giving back and doing things in the community,” Mowjood said. “We feel fortunate to be able to give back. Once the holiday season starts, our staff members ask, ‘What can I do? How can I help?’ That is really nice.”
