Debby Cherney Named CEO Of The San Bernardino County Employees’ Retirement Association
San Bernardino, CA – The San Bernardino County Employees’ Retirement Association (SBCERA) proudly welcomes Debby Cherney as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
As CEO, Ms. Cherney will provide leadership, management and oversight for the over $10 billion Fund with 18 participating employers and over 40,000 members and beneficiaries.
While the SBCERA Board of Retirement interviewed many highly qualified candidates, Ms. Cherney stood apart for her enthusiastic and inclusive approach to management and belief that good ideas do not just originate from a corner office, but rather from the entire organization.
Speaking on behalf of the Board, Chair Louis Fiorino stated, “We are thrilled to welcome Debby Cherney to the SBCERA team. She brings a wealth of experience and success to this position, and we could not be more confident in her ability to guide the future of SBCERA.”
Prior to joining SBCERA, Ms. Cherney served as the Deputy General Manager at the Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD), where she oversaw the organization’s finance, human resources and administrative services departments. Before that, she served as the Executive Director of Finance and Administrative Services at Irvine Ranch Water District, and spent 15 years in management consulting.
A licensed Certified Public Accountant, she also holds a B.A. from Claremont McKenna College and an MBA from the University of California, Irvine.
