Cultura Con Llantas organizes fundraising event for the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art, Culture & Industry of the Riverside Art Museum

Perris, CA – Cultura Con Llantas invites you to a Pachuco Ball fundraiser on August 25 from 6 p.m. to midnight. A volunteer collective of lowrider enthusiasts, Cultura con Llantas or culture on wheels, came together to create this fundraiser for the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art, Culture & Industry of the Riverside Art Museum while paying homage to the lowrider car culture tradition and recognizing the historical legacy of the Mexican-American pachuco culture.

The Pachuco Ball will feature live music by Lil Bit of Soul and Flash Bak, food, and drinks, as well as classic cars and lowriders, all at the Lake Perris Fairgrounds Harrison Hall. Some event attendees will dress up in Zoot Suits and other classics outfits associated with the pachuco culture.

“We are often asked ‘why a Pachuco Ball? and why the image of the Pachuco?’,” issued the Cultura Con Llantas group in a statement. “Our response is that the image of the Pachuco is in line with the creation and maintenance of The Cheech. Chicano art is about identity, about culture, and about trying to create space and acceptance in a society that does not value us as individuals or as a community. Several iconic figures appear repeatedly in Chicano art. These images appear on canvases, on posters, and in gigantic murals. These images represent resistance to oppressive forces and ideals.”

Tickets are $25 per person, which includes appetizers until 8 p.m. There is no additional charge for parking. There will be a bar where drinks may be purchased. Come make art, win raffles for vintage items, and compete in the Dance and Best Dressed competitions!
