Feast of Lights Vigil at University of Redlands
Redlands, Ca – Serving as a devotional observance and prelude to the Feast of Lights celebration, the Feast of Lights Vigil on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017 represents months of musical, artistic and spiritual preparation by the University of Redlands School of Music.
Along with choral meditations and acclamations, the Ceremony of Candle Lighting, celebrates the coming of the Messiah. By remaining lighted until the performance of “Silent Night” at the end of the final Feast presentation, the candle serves as a constant reminder of the significance of both Jesus’ coming and the event that commemorates it. A portion of the music presented during the Vigil will also be part of the Feast presentation.
Under the direction of Dr. Nicholle Andrews, Director of Choral Activities at the University of Redlands, the 70th Feast of Lights will be a Feast in the true sense of the word. The public is asked to bring non-perishable food items to the Feast of Lights. The food will be collected by the Family Service Association of Redlands and distributed to low-income and homeless families in the community.
The Feast of Lights Vigil is free and open to the public. Feast of Lights tickets are now on sale at the ticket window in the Events Services in the Hunsaker University Center, online at www.redlands.edu/feastoflights, or by phone at (909) 748-8116.
