Registration is now open for a poster graphics family workshop, “Fight for the Cause,” at the San Bernardino County Museum in Redlands on Saturday, August 6, from 1 to 4 p.m. Workshop activities are designed for families with children ages 5 and above. A $5 materials fee per participant is requested in addition to regular museum admission and pre-registration is required.

“This workshop is designed so families can make a statement—about the environment, a social issue, a personal belief, or a call to action,” said Jolene Redvale, the museum’s curator of education. “We’ll look at poster designs elements in recent as well as historic posters to identify what makes a poster effective, and then we’ll create posters that use those effective techniques to get the message across.”

With the permission of their creators, completed posters will be exhibited as part of the “Community Chronicles” display in the museum’s current special exhibit, “Turn Turn Turn: social movements 1965–75.”

The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 9 am to 5pm. General admission is $8 (adult), $6 (military or senior), $5 (student), and $4 (child aged 5 to 12). Children under five and Museum Association members are admitted free. Parking is free.
