Archaeology Discovery Weekend

Archaeology Discovery Weekend is an annual event in mid-November, sponsored by the Center for Near Eastern Archaeology and organized by its Archaeology Planning Committee. The schedule typically involves Saturday afternoon and evening and Sunday afternoon. Events include Lectures by world-class scholars on a common theme, a Middle Eastern or Mediterranean banquet, a Kids Dig, hands-on lab activities, and a genuine Bedouin Hospitality Tent set up for refreshments.

The eighth annual Archaeology Discovery Weekend will feature WOMEN IN ARCHAEOLOGY: women as part of the archaeological record and as specialists uncovering that record.

Illustrated presentation on “mothers and goddesses and their adornment”

• A look at the women of Qumran
• The role of women in major leadership positions in antiquity
• Ways in which women are contributing to modern archaeological research
• Events including activities for children and our annual Middle Eastern Banquet
