Riverside Fire Investigation Unit Gets Arson Conviction
On December 19, 2015 at 2:06 pm the City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a fire at a single story apartment complex located at 861 Prescott Way. The first arriving units found smoke coming from a single apartment and were able to contain the fire to the hallway and a back bedroom. A total of four occupants were within the structure at the time of the fire and one person was assessed for smoke inhalation. The fire caused approximately $82,000 worth of damage to the property.
The City of Riverside Fire Department’s Fire and Arson Investigations Unit responded to the scene and conducted an origin and cause investigation. Through the investigation the Arson Investigator was able to determine the fire was intentionally ignited in the back bedroom of the apartment and subsequently arrested FNU Zeeshan a 24 year old male tenant, for arson of an inhabited structure. In coordination with the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office FNU Zeeshan plead guilty to one count of arson and was sentenced on 3/4/2016 to a minimum of 4 years in state prison.
