Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous T-shirt to be Unveiled
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – Those attending the baseball game between the Inland Empire 66ers Angels and the Lake Elsinore Storm on Thursday, June 23, 2011 will also be treated to the unveiling of the 22nd Annual Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous T-shirt. Mascot Bernie will model the T-shirt as the shirts are tossed into the crowds.
The unveiling of the 22nd Annual Rendezvous T-shirt commemorates California’s largest cruisin’ classic car show, the Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous®. The 35-blocks of historical downtown San Bernardino is turned into an automotive haven with 1,700 hot rods, classics and custom cars cruising from September 15 – 18, 2011.
“There is not a better venue to unveil the T-shirt than at the 66ers game. Baseball is America’s favorite pastime as are classic cars,” states Wayne Austin, president & CEO of the San Bernardino Convention & Visitors Bureau.
“We’re excited to have Route 66 Rendezvous back for a second season here at Arrowhead Credit Union Park,” said Inland Empire 66ers Assistant General Manager Ryan English. “We want this year’s event to be even bigger and better than last year’s, so we are offering a 50% off ticket special for the June 23rd game to all fans that mention Route 66 Rendezvous or the T-shirt unveiling at our box office here at the stadium.”
The cars that are featured on the T-shirt will be on display at the entrance of the stadium. Craig Sonia’s ‘47 Buick Roadmaster is featured along with Fred Siegeler’s ’59 Cadillac, and Rudy and Susie Flores’ ’29 Roadster.
When Fred Siegeler was asked what he felt like to have his Caddy selected he said, “It is truly an honor; they only select a couple of cars each year to be on the T-shirt.” He refers to his car as “my other girlfriend.”
Craig Sonia said, “The color of my Orange Pearl Roadmaster looks good in the photos and the ads, but wait until you see it in person.” And, those who attend the unveiling will be able to see the car in front of the stadium.
As for the Flores’ Roadster, “We feel like we made it on the cover of the ‘Rolling Stone Magazine’,” says Rudy.
The Inland Empire 66ers are the new California League partner of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The 66ers have won five California League titles and are on pace to make a return to the playoffs at season’s end.
