4th Annual Riverside Insect Fair takes place Saturday, April 28, 2018
Insects are the Headliners in Downtown Riverside Fair
Riverside, CA – Hercules Beetles, fuzzy Tarantulas and pencil-thin Walking Sticks are the stars of the 4th Annual Riverside Insect Fair in Downtown Riverside on April 28, 2018.
The City of Riverside and the UC Riverside Entomology Graduate Student Association will host the Insect Fair to give the Southern California community an opportunity to learn how insects impact our lives.
Guests will experience the world of insects as they count insects through a microscope, learn about pollen as they play games, and get the chance to enter a butterfly tent. With more than 40 booths and countless scientists, guests are encouraged to bring their inquisitive minds and questions.
Dr. Zoolittle, the San Diego Zoo’s zany, good natured wildlife researcher, will bring wildlife, fun and learning to the Riverside Insect Fair. The Zoolittle: Icky, Yuck, Gross Bugs show will feature San Diego Zoo animals plus a few cool bugs. This crowd pleaser will include interactive activities.
Want to get up close to some animals? The Living Desert Zoo & Garden’s animal ambassadors will provide guests the opportunity to engage and participate through informational chats.
UC Riverside scientists from the Graduate School of Entomology will display interactive exhibits of current research. Fair guests will be challenged to become research partners as they count insects and view them through microscopes. For students who are interested in STEM careers or just want to know more about an insect in the yard, the Fair is a fun learn opportunity.
The Fair will also feature crafts and learning tools, books and jewelry, and experts to answer those pesky questions about the creepy crawly critters found around us.
