Brian Jaramillo to Receive Riverside’s City Spirit Award June 18
President of Tilden-Coil Constructors was integral to completion of The Grove Village
Riverside, Calif. – Brian Jaramillo, who partnered with The Grove Community Church to complete The Grove Village project, creating four cottages for housing homeless individuals and families, will be recognized by the Riverside City Council with the 2018 City Spirit Award on June 18 during the 6:15 p.m. Council meeting at Riverside City Hall.
The annual City Spirit Award recognizes a Riverside resident who, by extraordinary deeds and community spirit, demonstrates good citizenship and dedication to enhancing the quality of life in the City of Riverside.
“Brian Jaramillo has given so much to Riverside, especially the least, last, and lost, without expecting anything in return,” Mayor Rusty Bailey said. “That reflects the true spirit of this city.”
As President of Tilden-Coil Constructors, Inc., he and the company led a volunteer effort to design, permit, construct and fully furnish The Grove Village. This project kicked off Mayor Bailey’s Love Your Neighbor Initiative, which aims to provide housing and support services to our neighbors without homes through partnerships between private, public and faith-based organizations.
Jaramillo also serves in many other positions to improve the quality of life of those in his community. He has been a member of The Grove Community Church Board of Directors; the Mission Inn Foundation; and the Cal Poly Pomona College of Engineering Dean’s Leadership Board, which focuses on training much needed engineers for Inland Southern California.
Jaramillo has long embraced giving back to his community through corporate responsibility and generosity. He served on the Riverside Educational Enrichment Foundation (REEF) board from 2002-2012. With the participation of Tilden-Coil, more than $750,000 was raised to benefit the students of Riverside Unified School District. For the last 10 years, Tilden- Coil has earned the title of #1 Fundraising Team in the Inland Empire raising over $550,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In 2011, Tilden-Coil partnered to complete the aquatic complex at Riverside City College, which led to the creation of the Starting Blocks program, which has provided over 6,000 Riverside children free swim lessons and the opportunity to visit a college campus.
“Government alone cannot solve a problem as complex as homelessness,” Mayor Pro Tem Mike Soubirous said. “We need partners in this effort, and Brian Jaramillo is a great example of what can be accomplished when those partnerships come to fruition.”
