Redlands, CA – Redlands Horticultural and Improvement Society (RedlandsGardenClub.com) honored Curtiss Allan, Sr. at the September Redlands Unified School District Board Meeting.
Curtiss Allan Sr. belonged to the Redlands Horticultural and Improvement Society for many years. He was loved and respected as a wonderful member as well as an outstanding citizen of Redlands. When we lost him this year, RHIS members wanted to do something special in his honor; after talking together, the RHIS Board decided Curtiss would love to see a young person have the ability to start learning music and becoming a member of a band.
Rosemary Herendeen, RHIS Corresponding Secretary talked to his son Curtiss Allan Jr. and asked if he would accept a musical instrument for one of his students that might not otherwise be able to participate. Curtiss was very pleased with the suggestion.
At the RUSD Board Meeting presentation, Herendeen said, “Curtiss, your father was a beloved fixture in Redlands and we hope that your student enjoys music and becomes a lifetime musician.” She presented to Curtiss Allan, Jr. Beattie School music teacher, a clarinet and carrying case, in his father’s name.
