James and Rowena Ramos to Receive Lifetime Legacy Award
San Manuel Band of Mission Indians – Elders James and Rowena Ramos to Receive Lifetime Legacy Award
Highland, CA – Time for Change Foundation is honored to present their Lifetime Legacy Award to San Manuel Tribal Elders James and Rowena Ramos. The couple has been married over 53 years and are the foundation of their family.
James & Rowena have been retired for many years now, but have raised their family to always appreciate what they have in their lives and to work hard to keep it. The Ramos philosophy is to pray every day, not just when times get tough, always lend a hand to those in need, because one day it could be you who is in need, never lose your sense of humor, and above all else, respect your elders and never forget where you came from.
There is much to learn from their knowledge and experiences. The Ramos’ are very involved with charitable giving, especially children’s charities. They believe that every child should be given hope and have the chance to dream of what may come or just feel a sense of belonging. That is why they are involved with so many organizations such as Loma Linda Children’s Hospital, Boys and Girls Club, SEBA children’s charities, The Unforgettable Foundation, YMCA, Santa Clause Inc., and Time for Change Foundation, just to name a few. They have also been involved and contributed to several youth sports programs throughout the community.
“If anyone is deserving of the Lifetime Legacy Award, it’s James and Rowena,” said Vanessa Perez, Director of Time for Change Foundation. “The love and concern they have for the community is highly notable and we would not be here as a community without people like them, it is an honor to recognize them this year!”
Recently Rowena was honored to have an award named after her through the Unforgettable Foundation. The Rowena award is one that will be handed out to Grandmothers that have inspired and contributed with a giving heart within the community over the years. James & Rowena take pride in their many awards that they have received over the years for the contributions in the community and with local youth and will continue to support these local organizations as God permits.
Other Award Honorees include:
Carlos and Audrey Martinez with the Dynamic Duo Award, BLU Educational Foundation with the Rise (Restoring Inclusivity in Systemic Education) Award, Johnson Family Child Care with the Childcare of the Year Award, Linda Lindsey with the Lady of Justice Award, Mayor Deborah Robertson with the Public Service Champion Award, James and Rowena Ramos with the Lifetime Legacy Award, Beatriz Solis with the Melinda Gates Inspiration Award, and Dr. Roger Hadley with the Community Health Champion Award.
