The 2012 Members’ Exhibition

Riverside CA – The Riverside Art Museum (RAM) announces the opening of the 2012 Members’ Exhibition. The exhibition runs from June 15 to July 6, 2012, with a special award reception on Thursday, June 28, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Continuing in a yearly tradition, the Riverside Art Museum is pleased to announce the opening of the expansive 2012 Members’ Exhibition. This annual event puts RAM’s abundant and talented artist-member demographic front and center with the opportunity to display and sell an original piece of their choice.

This year, with 125 art submissions, artists were given free reign with an open media, open-in-theme exhibition. RAM’s diverse pool of artist-members encompasses everyone from established and renowned professional artists to those who enjoy dabbling in any artistic sensibility. “There are some really outstanding pieces this year; submissions are varied in content and media and many display exceptional artistic sensitivity and original and creative concepts,” said RAM Curator Kathryn Poindexter.

The Award Reception, held on Thursday, June 28th, will include the distribution of: Best of Show award, Curatorial award, and three Honorable Mention awards. RAM staff will present the award certificates alongside participating judges, who will share words on some of their insights and decision-making processes. Visitors are encouraged to look through a book of selected artists’ statements, biographies, and exhibition price list. All exhibition sales work to support both the artists and the Riverside Art Museum.

RAM relies on the generosity of members and donors to support its exhibitions, education programs, and special events. A 50-plus-year-old, private, non-profit cultural arts institution housed in a National Historic 1929 building designed by Hearst Castle architect Julia Morgan, the museum welcomes over 50,000 visitors a year.
