IEUW Desert Communities Region Shares Spotlight with Community Impact Partners
Victorville, CA – Inland Empire United Way (IEUW) Desert Communities Region hosted their Mini-Golf Campaign Kickoff the morning of June 28, 2019 at Scandia Family Fun Center in Victorville. “Summer is short, so is childhood” was the theme for this year’s Mini-Golf Event. Nearly 100 participants flooded into Scandia Family Fun Center to learn more about IEUW programs, local nonprofits, and, of course, play mini-golf.
“I was thrilled that we had the largest turnout this year than ever before. The moment you entered the course it was electric because of the show of support from the community and many of the local nonprofits in the Victor Valley. I want to thank everyone that participated this year from our High Desert Community, our volunteers, and our staff. Because of your generous support, you ensure that local youth from low-income families have the support needed to succeed in school and life, as well as enable us to continue our in-house programs.” said Shirli Driz, Interim President & CEO of Inland Empire United Way.
The two mini-golf courses were lined with sponsored tee signs and table displays of Community Impact Partners sharing the impact they have on those in the community including Moses House, Oasis House, Community Hospice, High Desert Homeless Services, Inc., Think Together, Samaritan Helping Hands, A Better Way, VNA, and CASA. Participants were brought Kona Ice and PureRite Water onto the courses to enjoy. The event broke past fundraising records with $15,000 in donations to help children in need in the desert communities region.
Randi Hunt of IEUW said, “Thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, staff, and participants that made this year the success that it was. As a Resource Development Manager for IEUW Desert Communities Region, I thank you all for helping our local children and families. From mini golf to sliding down the big slide, to the amazing food by Chef Basil and Starbucks Coffee, to raffles and auctions; the energy was high and a good time was had by all! I am proud to be a part of Inland Empire United Way!”
