Fontana is Celebrating Building Safety Month
Fontana, Calif.– The City of Fontana is celebrating Building Safety during the month of May by recognizing the team of inspectors, plan checkers, permit aides and technicians who enforce building codes to protect lives, public safety and property. Fontana’s Building and Safety Division helps homeowners, building owners, and business owners create safe and sustainable structures through an efficient permit process that ensures compliance with modern building codes.
The Building and Safety Division handles all construction inspections and plan checks for projects taking place in the City of Fontana. Staff review all plans that are submitted for conformance to all applicable codes. In 2016, Building and Safety performed approximately 32,000 inspections and 3,400 plan reviews. They also issued approximately 5,000 permits and assisted over 10,000 customers at the front counter.
“We’re in the business of providing peace of mind by ensuring whatever is built in the City of Fontana is safe to occupy,” said Building Official Gil Estrada. “We also work towards providing sites and buildings that are accessible, energy-efficient and sustainable.”
Building Safety Month (BSM), founded by the International Code Council is celebrated by jurisdictions worldwide during the month of May.
