Fontana’s Miller Park Closed for Amphitheater Construction
Fontana, Calif. – The City of Fontana is moving forward with the construction of the Miller Park Amphitheater located in the downtown area. Crews will begin prepping the park for construction the week of April 10th. The construction project will require the closure of Miller Park as well as a section of the Pacific Electric Trail that runs through the park, until its expected completion in January 2018. The Miller Fitness Center will remain open throughout construction. In addition, the popular Summer Concerts that take place at Miller Park will move to Veterans Park for Summer 2017.
The new Miller Amphitheater will create an environment for the community in the City of Fontana by providing a stage and seating area for performances. “We are very excited to begin constructing these new improvements for Miller Park, ” said Dan West, Public Works Manager. “This project will make Downtown Fontana a premier entertainment destination for the entire community to enjoy.”
The $3.9 million project includes:
- Approximately 2000 square feet covered stage structure with integrated storage facility including electrical, water and sewer services stage and seating area for performances
- Turf grass performance viewing area with berms for elevated viewing opportunities
- Concrete walkways and dance floor space
- Decomposed granite vendor areas with electrical service
- Decorative water feature
- Park restrooms
The City of Fontana encourages all pedestrians using the PET during construction to use the following detour:
If you are traveling eastbound on the PET from Sierra, head north on Sierra, turn right along Upland Avenue and another right on Emerald Avenue until you reconnect with the trail on Seville.
If you are traveling westbound on the PET from Seville, take a right at Emerald Avenue, left on Upland Avenue and then left on Sierra until you reconnect with the trail on Seville near the Lewis Library.
